Matt was a positive role model while we worked together for several years at MMC. I just recently learned of his passing from another former colleague. He was always easy to talk with, demonstrated a great sense of humor and remained calm in tough situations. Matt will be missed by all who he came into contact with. To my brother Matt, I remember our childhood you playing clarinet day and night. I am not complaining I use to be able screech right along with him and it sounded like dueling clarinets. My dad use to have us preform for guests. I remember we use to play manhunt till way in the dark until mom called use in, or someone else's mom called them in (no fences in any yard back then 15 kids running wild though the whole block no one ever complained). I remember work with you with dad at green tree run cutting grass and pulling weeds. Singing the James Taylor song Fire and Rain our favorite line was " I seen sunny days I thought would never end". I never understood why you always pushed yourself so hard with everything you did trying to make weight for wresting either gaining weight or loosing weight. even to the point of getting mono, back then. I know now that was who you were. ever you gave 110% in every thing you did. From your work friends and Family. Your and Kathy's love raised three beautiful children. Intelligent, thoughtful, loving and well rounded. I never got the chance to tell you how proud I was of you and every thing you did for and how you made a positive influence on us all. I am a better person for having you as a brother. Maybe this poem I found on line can do you some justice. BROTHER You gave no one a last farewell, Nor ever said goodbye. You were gone before we knew it and only God knows why. A million times we will miss you. A million times we will cry. If love alone could have saved you, You never would have died, In life we loved you dearly. In death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place, no one else can fill. It broke our hearts to lose you, the day God took you home. We will meet again someday I know in a better place. I thank God He made you our brother While you were here on earth. I so wanted to say this at your viewing but as you know I never been as strong as you my Bro. Love you always rest in peace, Your Bro and friend Dan.

It’s been a while since Matt was with us at MMC but even until recently often one of us would remember and say ‘wonder how Matt is’. To me Matt was Mr MMC for all the years we worked together and when he left it was hard to imagine working without him. I am glad he had the time with his family these past few years and am so sorry it has been cut short. I hope his loved ones will find strength in their fond memories to get through this hard time. God bless.

Kevin and Dawn Coughlan. The last email we received from Matt was sent in the middle of the last snowstorm we had and included this quote: "It's snowing still!" said Eeyore gloomily. "And freezing." "However," he said brightening up a little, "we haven't had an earthquake lately!" The email was signed as always "With love and laughter, Matt." This epitomizes Matt in our opinion, pragmatic, optimistic, always with Kathy bringing a smile to our faces. On a recent visit together to New Hope, a stranger stopped us and said how nice it was to see the four of us with smiles on our faces. We shall miss that love, we shall miss the laughter. What a gift his friendship was to us.

Matt was a dear and close friend. Always positive (even when he was sick), never without a good story, a thoughtful gift-giver, a great planner, loved to joke around... I could go on and on. We were so fortunate to spend a wonderful weekend with him and Kathy just 10 days ago. He will be greatly missed by everyone in our family. Our love to all of the Reeds.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. I knew Matt almost for 14 years since I started working for MMC. He was always kind and calm even during the time he was battled with cancer. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, families and friends. My sincere condolences to all!!

The Christmas Gift It was many years ago when I was just five. My mother had been missing for a few days and it was Christmas morning. My father allowed us to open our presents then said I am bringing your mother home and we will have one more special gift for you. A short time later my mom came in through the kitchen door with Matt in her arms. We rushed up to greet her saying where is our special Christmas Gift. Here he is my parents said. I am not sure if this was spoken aloud but I know it was thought at least by me "What no toy." But through the years Matt proved to be a special gift to me. I remember his childhood years. He actually enjoyed pulling weeds from the garden when most of the rest of us did everything we could to avoid this chore. At times he could be annoying like when he chased his older sisters around the neighborhood pretending to eat worms he found in the garden. I do believe one time he actually ate one just to freak us out. He was always practical but also sweet I remember one Easter when he was eight he had forgotten to get my mom an Easter present. So he rushed over to the shopping center and brought back a bag of carrots for her. We all thought that was such a strange gift until he said it is for her coleslaw which my mom made every Easter. One of our favorite memories was when he brought all his Holy Communion money to school. I was called down to the office and told that they didn't think a second grader was responsible enough to handle all that money so they gave it to me to take it home. Guess what I lost it on the way home from school. He was very upset and told me he would never have lost the money and I do believe that is true and he frequently reminded me through the years that he would have never lost that money. As we grew older one of our favorite things to do was to go over to the Coughlan's and sing Irish songs with Mr Coughlan. We talked about this recently when he said he went to see anIrish band on St Patty's Day with Kevin and how it reminded him of those days. He often told me of the joys his children brought to him. Whether it was going to yoga or the movies with Nick his visits with Mackenzie and the grand kids or emailing Madison everyday with some little quip or words of wisdom.. In our last conversation we did a little remembering and came to the conclusion that we were generally happy with the way our lives had turned out despite our trials and tribulations. So Matt you were a special gift not only to me and all that loved you but to the world with your humor, wisdom and love. I love you and will miss you everyday.

My sincere condolences to Matt's family. I had refereed his soccer games when he was coaching and had worked with him as soccer referee. He had a great sense of humor and we would joke about our refereeing. He will be greatly missed on the soccer fields of Marlboro. Rest In Peace.
