Obituary of Michael V. Duffy
Michael Duffy, born August 3 1964, of Hazlet, passed away on Wednesday March 4, 2015, at home. He was a parishioner of Holy Family Church in Union Beach. Raised in Colts Neck, he graduated from Red Bank Catholic H.S., earned his B.S. in business from Stockton State University in 1989. Upon graduation he worked for Merrell Lynch as a control analyst, then made a career change and was licensed as a Respiratory Therapist in 1994. He worked at St. Peter's Hospital in New Brunswick and later Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. He specialized in the neonatal intensive care unit and adult ICU. It was while at St. Peter's he met his future wife Mary Ann Donato. Michael was an accomplished swimmer, winning many awards while in school. His life-long passion was composing and playing original music, which continued throughout his life. During grammar and high school he played guitar and was lead singer in several local bands. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Donato Duffy, and his adored son Patrick Michael Duffy, age 17. Also surviving are his mother Agnes Cassidy Duffy, brother Larry Duffy and wife Karen, their son Christopher, sister Susan Duffy Schatzle and husband Jim Schatzle, and their sons Jimmy and Jack, all of whom reside in Colts Neck, NJ. Michael is predeceased by his father John Duffy. He is also survived by many brothers and sisters in-law and a large extended family. Viewing will be held at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel on Tuesday March 10 from 4 to 9 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church 727 St. Highway 36, Union Beach at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday March 11. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Michael's memory to a college fund for his son Patrick. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
