Obituary of Allan John Filippi

Allan John Filippi, 70 of Holmdel passed away Friday, May 1st at his home.

Allan was born in Brooklyn and raised in the Ozone Park section of Queens, NY. He graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School, he would go to attend and graduate from City College of New York with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Following college, he took a position at Con Edison, while working he attended night school at St. Johns College in Queens and received his MBA. Allan would then work his way up in Con Edison and eventually took an environmental engineering job at the Arthur Kill power plant where he would spend his career until retirement in 2014

In the fall of 1972 in Queens, NY Allan would meet the love of his life Carol and in October of 1974 the two would marry and begin their lives together. They stayed in Queens for a short time but moved to Long Island where the two would adopt their daughter in 1983. A few years later they moved to Holmdel to raise their young family.  He loved his retirement where he had the freedom to pursue his interests and was happier than he had been in years. Allan loved working on his model trains, wood working, reading history books and traveling with his family to places all over the world including Mediterranean cruises, Scotland, Europe and the Caribbean. There was also never a lame "DAD" joke he could resist. But most of all he loved his family and friends. He was generous and kind and a person you could rely on. He was the rare person that was universally loved and about whom no one ever spoke a bad word.

Allan is survived by his loving wife Carol Filippi, , his daughter Daryl Lynn Chechel and her husband Dennis, his son Mathew Duffy, his brothers Robert Filippi and Richard Filippi and his sister Betty Agosta.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak all serves will be private.
