I remember in the 1989-1990 year Mr. Chris LaSalle was my math and reading teacher. He was one of the nicest, kindest, caring teacher's I have had. I felt it was an honor to be his student. I was overall and nice student but a little goofy sometmes. I remember once in reading class when we would open our readers read and answer questions there was one story we read in class about a man and a goose. After the story was read he would start asking us questions about the story and one question he asked was, What did the goose want to give the man? I raised my hand and said " A Kiss", then Mr. LaSalle just looked at me and I smiled and he said that is not funny. Mr. LaSalle was a wonderful teacher and I will always be blessed that he was my teacher when I was in 3rd grade for 2 subjects. Mr. LaSalle, God Rest Your Soul.

I am so devastated by this tragic loss of such an angelic soul! To me, Chris was the epitome of an educator- As a related service provider for one of Chris's students at PS37, I experienced firsthand the generosity of his soul to not only his students, but to the staff he worked with. I will never forget his dedication, ultimate creativity and caring for his students. I am at a loss as to why such a tragedy fell upon this beautiful person, leaving no mercy. My sincere and deepest condolences to the special people in Chris's life- RIP, dear Chris!

Chris was the consummate teacher. He defined his profession by giving of himself selflessly to his students. They were always "his kids" and taught them more than class lessons. He taught them how to share life lessons. He never gave up on them and for that he will always be cherished. He will be dearly missed; but our loss is Heaven's gain! Be at peace in the arms of God, my friend!

I am heartbroken over the tragic news of Chris's passing. I met Chris about 17 years ago while looking into a new program for my son. Chris was the director and I knew from the minute we started talking that my son would be with a kindhearted, loving and caring person. That's when we became part of the PS 37 @Petrides family. He treated our children as if they were his own. He worked with the kids, brought them on trips and at times corrected them. Knowing the teddy bear that he was he said he could never keep a straight face when correcting my son so he would walk out of the room to laugh. He not only won over mine and my son's hearts, he also was loved by our entire family. I know my mom, dad and sister along with anyone else who had the pleasure of knowing Chris are waiting in Heaven with open and loving arms. He has earned his wings while here on earth. May he rest in eternal peace. ❤️

My son Vincent was so fortunate to have Mr. Chris as his teacher for 4 years. Vincent would NOT be the young man he is today if it wasn't for Chris! He put his heart and soul into teaching. He treated each and every student as if they were his own. We called the class "Mr. Chris' boys" The boys used to make HIM cards on Father's Day because he was like a father to all of them. I was blessed & honored to call Chris a very dear friend. Through the years we got very close & after he retired we still went to lunch together, he came to Vincent's birthday parties, we always talked on the phone and he just sent me a "thinking of you" card last month and it's right next to me. It truly saddens me of this horrible tragedy that he certainly did NOT deserve! He was the kindest and most generous person I've ever met with the biggest heart! I will forever be grateful for everything he did for me, Vincent & my family. May you rest peacefully with the angels Chris. You will never ever be forgotten!

Chris was a very dear friend and former colleague. He made everyone he met and knew feel so special. He always went above and beyond in his thoughtfulness and caring. I had the pleasure of working with Chris and his students at P.S. 37. My fondest memories were of witnessing how loving he was toward his students. He took his students into the community to partake in countless learning experiences. He was always so well-planned in his teaching methods. Chris touched my heart after we both retired. He visited me and my husband several times in the hospital and rehabilitation center during a four month stay. He was an angel on earth. My family and I will truly miss him. We can never forget Chris. Rest in Peace in the Lord's embrace my dear friend. Till we meet again.

Felix and I are so heartbroken over Chris' death. I still cannot believe the circumstances and tragedy of it all. Chris was one of the best human beings I ever had the pleasure of knowing. He was loving and kind...always there to help you in anyway he could. He was a foodie and a baker like myself and whenever I saw him the conversation would always turn to what we were making or eating. He was happy and such a wonderful teacher. I know he enjoyed his retirement. He was the best brother, uncle, and friend his family and friends could ever have. He will be missed by many. May he rest in peace and may the Lord always hold him in the palm of His hand. xxoo
