Nicholas Berlingieri

Obituary of Nicholas D. Berlingieri

On Thursday, June 6th Nicholas D. Berlingieri, 54 of Marlboro, New Jersey became an angel and went to be with his Lord after a long battle with brain cancer.  He passed away at home surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

Nicholas was born February 24th, 1965 in Brooklyn, New York to Nicola and Anna Berlingieri.  He grew up mainly on Staten Island, New York, along with his two sisters Joanne Berlingieri and Tina Clausen.  He graduated Monsignor Farrell High School in 1983 and Saint Johns University in 1987.   Nick married Joan, the love of his life, in October of 1999, and in June of 2003 they became the proud parents of their twins, Nicholas Joseph and Gabriella Marie, their beloved children.

Nick was a Senior Vice-President for Aon Risk Services, New York City.  Nick spent over 25 years in the insurance industry and was loved and respected by all of his colleagues. While at Aon Nick was responsible for managing some of Aon’s largest relationships. Nick was known around the office for his big smile and boisterous laugh. He was a fierce negotiator and always put his clients first. Nick was also a great mentor to many junior colleagues at Aon and was a true role model. Nick’s legacy will live on at Aon through the colleagues who’s lives he touched.

Nick fought brain cancer for three years, through it all, he was the most kind, compassionate, loving person who had such a determination to live and always took the positive outlook on every situation. He fought so hard and believed he would beat this horrible disease with his great faith in God and his will to live for his wife and children, who he wanted to give the best life to.

Nick and his loving wife Joan went through his illness together, never leaving each other’s side and enjoyed every minute of their time together, building their tremendous love and strength off of each other.

Nick was a great family man and loved spending his time with his wife and children who he adored and would do anything for. He was an amazing father and husband and was loved beyond measure from them.  He was a beloved son to his parents, and adored brother to his sisters, and loved by all his nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

Nick loved all sports but especially baseball.  Growing up he was an amazing baseball player and received many trophies and awards.   He enjoyed attending his son’s baseball, basketball and football games and his daughter’s cheerleading and dance competitions and was so very proud of his children and their many talents and accomplishments. He was their biggest fan and always encouraged them to do their best.  Nick also volunteered a lot of his time at Marlboro Little League and coached his son’s baseball team for many years. As the coach Nick encouraged all the kids to enjoy the game, be good sportsmen, respect all, and most of all have fun.  His positive spirit was an example for all who knew him.  He truly loved watching and encouraging all the boys on his team and wanted them all to succeed.  He was an avid fan of the New York Mets, the Jets and the New York Rangers.

Nick was also a very faithful and spiritual man.  Nick and Joan believed that God brought them together and that they were always meant to be together.  Nick was a parishioner of St. Leo the Great RC Church, Lincroft. He attended church regularly and believed God was always with him on his journey.

Nick was an angel on earth and now he is an angel in heaven watching over his loving wife of 19 years, Joan Marie Berlingieri; their adored children, Nicholas Joseph Berlingieri and Gabriella Marie Berlingieri; his mom and dad, Anna and Nicola Berlingieri; his sisters, Joanne Berlingieri and Tina Clausen; his two godchildren Arianna and Zachary as well as his nieces, nephews, many loving cousins and Aunts and Uncles.
