Obituary of Anthony James DeJohn
Vietnam Veteran - 101st Airborne Division Anthony James DeJohn, 66, of Manalapan, formerly of Hazlet, passed away on Sunday, April 20th, 2014 at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. he lived in Hazlet for 34 years before moving to Manalapan a year ago. Mr. DeJohn was an Executive Director for Government Solutions with A.T.& T Florham Park, N.J., retiring in 2013. He was a highly decorated Vietnam Veteran, serving in the 101st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles). He was the recipient of the Silver Star and two Purple Hearts. He attended the New York Institute of Technology and the Sloan School of Business at MIT. He was a former Hazlet Little League Coach, and was active in the Hazlet Youth Athletic League. He loved his hobby of woodworking – and was an ardent woodworker. Anthony was a loving and beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Surviving is his wife Susan (nee Chiarelli), a son Anthony and his wife Gina DeJohn of Colts Neck, a daughter Jennifer and her husband Robert Johnson of Hazlet, 4 grandchildren Giovanna and Anthony DeJohn, Robert and Jonathan Johnson. Visitation will be at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 – South Holmdel Road, Holmdel on Wednesday, April 23rd from 1 to 4 PM and from 6 to 10 PM. A Funeral Mass will be offered 10:00AM Thursday at St. Benedict R.C. Church, 165 – Bethany Road, Holmdel. Entombment will then follow at the Holmdel Cemetery.
