I had the great privilege of working for Tony supporting the Federal Aviation Administration. He was tireless in delivering the best service to all his customers. The most valuable lesson Tony taught us all is that family was the most important thing in life. We will all miss him but carry forth his memory in this vital lesson. I had the great fortune of working with Tony for several years and then had the pleasure of him being part of my team. I learned many things from him during the time we spent together. My wife and I were very sad to hear the news of Tony's passing. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Susan and the rest of Tony's family. Tony was simply "one of a kind". He was unique, extremely talented and hard-working. Tony's character was one of devotion and commitment to his family, in addition to the dedication and pride he took in his work. Tony didn't sugar coat the love for his family. He was not one to put on airs or facades. What you got from Tony was never anything but pure Tony, "I am what I am". Mrs. DeJohn, Tony and Jennifer, I am very sorry for the loss of your Dad. We all loved him like he was our own Father. Your Father was always there for me in High School and beyond, when his guidance and words were needed the most. The great memories are too many to list but thinking of him always brings a smile to my face. Dear Susan: I was lucky to have spent time with Anthony as a childhood classmate at Holy Family. Even then he was so kind and gentle. He was an encouraging person. We used to take walks and talk about what we wanted to do when we were grownup. He was light years ahead of his age in intelligence and maturity. I really liked him so much as a dependable friend. All of us did. And when he went to war, it just seems fitting that he would earn all sorts of medals and purple hearts too. He was just a patriot, and an all around great guy. Please know that all of his classmates who keep in touch via facebook, are all very sad today. Know that we pray for you and your children and grandchildren. Tony, rest in peace old friend. Tony and I were in the same class at Holy Family School in Canarsie. We graduated from Sr. Matthew's 8th grade class in June 1961-- all 65 of us! How well I recall Tony's kindness, intelligence and sense of humor. He was a fun loving gentleman who never had a bad word to say about or to anyone. Some of us have remained close through all these years and when together reminiscing about our 'glory days', Tony's name always came up as 'one of the good guys.'
