Michael V. Pomarico
In 1969 my Mom piled us kids into our ‘64 Rambler and drove us to the Garden State Arts Center. The Arts Center opened the year before and was bringing top name entertainment to the small town of Holmdel. That day I saw my first concert, Glen Campbell. That concert started my love for live concerts. A passion I still have to this day. In 2012 Glen Campbell returned to Monmouth County at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank. Glen was suffering from Alzheimer’s and was doing a farewell tour. My Mom was also showing early signs of Alzheimer’s and it was such a joy for me to take her to see Glen perform. I believe this was the last “professional” concert that my Mom attended. We attended many concerts over the years but this one was very special. I could see that this show really meant a lot to my Mom and it meant the world for me and my sister Patty and my wife Mary to take her. RIP Mom I Love You. - Michael Pomarico
