Obituary of John P. Teevan
John P. Teevan, Junior, 77, of Holmdel, New Jersey, passed away from natural causes on June 1, 2017. Born in Newark in 1940, he married Nuala Finnerty, and the couple celebrated their 50 year wedding anniversary last year. John graduated from St. Benedict's Preparatory School in Newark and St. Peter's College in Jersey City, and his career in accounting and financial services spanned over 55 years.
Mr. Teevan was predeceased by his brother Martin, and is survived by his wife Nuala and his three sons John and his wife Kristen, Brian and his wife Lauren, and Kevin and his wife Christa. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Matthew, Mackenzie, Emma, and Logan and many nephews, nieces, cousins and other family members and friends.
John began his working career at Deloitte, Haskins & Sells after graduating from St. Peter’s and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1966. After several other positions at Consolidated Rail Corp and NJ Transit, he spent over 18 years at First Indemnity of America as Treasurer, where he also became a financial consultant. More recently John worked at GunnAllen Financial, Sterling Noble Wealth Management, and most recently National Securities Corporation as a financial advisor.
John also devoted a significant amount of time volunteering his tax preparation and financial advisory services to help those in need through St. Benedict’s Preparatory School and Project Paul in Keansburg, as well as to others in his community.
John and Nuala loved to travel, especially to visit family in Ireland and enjoyed many cruises throughout Europe and North America, most recently to celebrate their 50th anniversary with their children and their families.
Visitation will be held at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel on Wednesday, June 7, 2-4PM and 7-9PM. A mass will be held at the Church of St. Catharine, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel on Thursday, June 8 at 10:30 AM, followed by interment at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery and Mausoleum in East Hanover.
