Obituary of Elaine M. Frey
Elaine M. Frey, 89, of Greensboro, North Carolina (formerly of Holmdel, NJ) passed away on Saturday July 4, 2015. She was born on August 1, 1925 in New York City, daughter of the late Henry and Madeline Dalhauser. Mrs. Frey attended Hunter College prior to marrying the love of her life, Francis Frey on July 30, 1949. Mrs. Frey co-founded the Holmdel Historical Society, was the first woman elected to the Holmdel Township Committee and first woman elected mayor of Holmdel. She was an active member of St. Catharine's Catholic Church and a Eucharistic minister. Most notably, she could be remembered driving a school bus for Holmdel Schools for over 20 years prior to retiring to Georgetown, DE in 1993. In Delaware, she continued to volunteer her time at St. Michael the Archangel & Mary Mother of Peace, Sussex Pines Greens Committee and Meals on Wheels. Mrs. Frey enjoyed snow skiing, playing tennis and traveling across the United States and Europe. She will be remembered for her devotion to town she helped build. Her love and devotion to family will live in each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Frey was preceded in death by her husband Francis Frey and her daughter Elyse Fogarty. Mrs. Frey is survived by her two sons Christopher M. Frey and wife Jean of Jamestown, NC and F. Scott Frey and wife Eloise of Racine, WI; four grandsons, Kevin Fogarty and wife Janet of Hazlet, NJ, Marc Fogarty and wife Amy of Hazlet, NJ, Joshua Frey of Seoul, South Korea and Brian Frey of Milwaukee, WI; one granddaughter, Jessica Zenzen and husband Sean of High Point, NC; five great-granddaughters, Leanne Fogarty, Ashley Fogarty and Elizabeth Fogarty all of Hazlet, NJ, Ella Zenzen and Rose Zenzen, both of High Point, NC, one great-grandson, Matthew Fogarty of Hazlet, NJ. A viewing will be held from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm Monday July 13, 2015 at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ. A prayer service will also be held graveside at 10am on Tuesday July 14, 2015 at St. Gabriel's Cemetery, 549 Country Road 520, Marlboro, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Delaware Veterans Home, 100 Delaware Veterans Blvd, Milford, DE 19963.
