Obituary of George C. Chapman

George C. Chapman, 89, of Union NJ, died Wednesday, July 3rd. He was an American Soldier during WWII in the 3rd Army, 4th armored division, Company A. Wounded 5 times, he received his purple heart and silver cluster. Back home in Newark, NJ he met Ethel, his wife of 53 years. He was a husband and father that dedicated his life to his family. He was involved in Cub Scouts and Little League baseball and a member of The Knights of Columbus. He was loved by his 8 children, the late Stanley Tabor, Nick Tabor, Sandy Cuomo, Tykie Chapman, Peter Chapman, David Chapman, Mark Chapman, Paula Lombardi and their families all of Union; a sister, Dorothy Auth; and affectionately known as “Pop Pop” by his 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday July 8th from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Clement R.C. Church, 172 Freneau Avenue (Route 79), Matawan, on Tuesday July 9th at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at 12:30 PM at the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675
