Obituary of Mabel Jean Gawley
Mabel Jean Gawley, (nee Millard) 92, of Marlboro, passed away at home on Wednesday, September 4th, 2013 surrounded by her family. Born in East Rochester, N.Y. Mable moved with her family to Newark as a teenager, where she attended Eastside High. Mable married in 1942 and moved to East Orange. Following the war, the family moved to Union, and finally to Marlboro in 1967 Mabel was a member of Old Brick Reformed Church. A loving mother and lifelong homemaker, she volunteered her time to numerous civic and charitable organizations. She was predeceased by her parents, siblings, daughter –in-law Renate Gawley, and son-in-law Robert Peterson, and John her husband of 53 years. She is survived by her son, Thomas of Cranford, daughters Joyce Walsack and Janice Peterson, both of Marlboro, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Friday September 6th from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 – South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday morning at 11:00AM at the Old Brick Reformed Church, 490 – County Road 520, Marlboro. Interment will then follow in the Church Cemetery.
