Obituary of Edward J. Haley

Edward J Haley 84, a 55 year resident of Hazlet, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on April 24th. Edward, one of the earliest residents, settled his family on the original dirt paved unlit street back in 1957 and remained until his final days. A good, kind and gentle man, he was exceptionally proud of the life and family he created along with his wife, Theresa. Born at home in Jersey City, NJ on May 2, 1928, he continually credited his hard working parents throughout his lifetime for instilling the value of hard work and honor in daily life that would ultimately define his love and character. Edward is a WWII Marine Corps veteran and served in the Army (1950-1952) during the Korean War in the 25th Infantry Light Aviation Division and was delegated as one of the first head helicopter mechanics inaugurated for aerial crew/surveillance and medical evacuation missions. Edward enjoyed immense success working at various companies such as General Electric at Linden Airport in the Aircraft Aviation Division and his ultimate career at Exxon Research & Engineering in the Products Research Division. For over twenty five years he made many noteworthy and recognizable contributions in lab research and retired as Supervisor of the Research Lab Facility in 1992. Edward was predeceased by his loving wife Theresa of over 53 years, in 2007, and his only son Michael, in 2009, a former Captain for US Airways. Also predeceased in death by his parents Patrick and Victoria, sisters Rosemary and Katharine, brothers Robert, Jack and Joseph and survived by his sister, Edna Gately of Howell, NJ. He is survived by his daughters Victoria Haley of Warren, NJ and Theresa and son-in- law Paul Domorski and three grandsons, Andrew Greg and Brad of Holmdel, NJ, daughter-in-law Pamela Haley and two granddaughters Amanda and Lauren of Holmdel, NJ. A viewing will be held on Sunday April 28th from 2 to 6 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday April 29th at St. Benedict R.C. Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel. Entombment will then follow at the Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum, with Military Honors being presented in honor of his service to our country.
