Obituary of David E. “Danny” Hamlin
David E. 'Danny' Hamlin, 69, of Colts Neck passed away Monday December 12, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Jersey City, NJ to Earl and Muriel Hamlin. Danny was a graduate of Union Hill High School and attended St. Peter's College. Danny began his 50 year career in the trucking industry as a driver for Don Dee Trucking in North Bergen, and as a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters/ Local 560. As the years went on, he climbed the ladder of success with Red Star Trucking, Penn Yan Express, and Yellow Freight. In 1988, Danny along with his son David decided to start their own Trucking Company, (Network Transportation Specialists, Inc.), with the support of his wife and daughter Donna. For more than two decades through his professionalism, experience and loyalty he watched his business flourish into one of the most successful container transport operations in the State and eventually expanding into several other companies including DH Realty, Inc., Network Trailer Leasing, Inc., Network Truck & Trailer Repair and Network Security Park all operated and managed by himself and his family. In 1998, after over three decades in Hasbrouck Heights, Danny and Ginny moved to Colts Neck, NJ to be closer to their grandchildren. Danny enjoyed activities such as boating and fishing at his winter home in Punta Gorda Isles, Florida. An avid New York Yankees/ Seton Hall fan, he enjoyed attending spring training games as well as watching his grandchildren participate in their sporting activities. Danny will always be remembered as a shrewd and loyal businessman but even more so, a devoted husband, a loving father and cherished grandfather who will sorely be missed by all. David E. 'Danny' Hamlin leaves behind his wife Ginny, his son David and wife Deborah, his daughter Donna, two brother Ronald and his wife Margaret, and Wayne, and his grandchildren Danielle, Dillon, Dalton, Davianna, Shawn and David II. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday 9:00AM at St. Mary's R.C. Church, Colts Neck. Entombment will be in the Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel.
