Obituary of Amelia C. Ferrari
Amelia 'Emily' Ferrari, 103, of HOLMDEL passed away at the Bayshore Community Health Care Center in Holmdel on Friday evening, May 9th, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Union City, Mrs. Ferrari lived in Fairview, Cliffside Park where she lived most of her life, West Windsor in New Jersey and Boca Raton Florida before moving to Holmdel in 2011. She was a homemaker and, prior to her retirement in 1972, she was the Manager of Mae Moon, a women's wear shop in Cliffside Park for many years. She was predeceased by her parents, Anna and Cosmo Contessa, and her loving husband Frank, as well as brothers Nicholas, Vincent, James, Albert and George, and sisters Dolores, Anna Marie and Vera. Emily is survived by daughter Marilyn and her husband Gerry Legato of Gillette, her son David and his wife Carol Ferrari of Deerfield Beach, Florida and daughter Judy and her husband Wendell Smith of Holmdel, as well as four grandchildren, Marianne Legato Pasenko, Mark, Steve and Nancy Legato, four great-grandchildren, Sam, T.J., Amelia and Aiden Legato, and 15 loving and devoted nieces and nephews, visits and correspondence from whom always brightened her days. Mrs. Ferrari was an avid reader, enjoyed poetry and the classics and was a fan of old movies. Her family was her paramount interest and greatest joy, the time she spent with them being the most important thing in her life. She had a captivating smile, inspired everyone with whom she came in contact, and had nothing but kind words for all. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 7 to 9 PM at A. K. Macagna Funeral Home, 495 Anderson Avenue, Cliffside Park, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday at 11 AM at Madonna Church, 2070 Hoefley's Lane, Fort Lee, NJ. Interment will then follow at the Madonna Cemetery, Fort Lee, NJ. In lieu of sending flowers, the family would appreciate a donation in Emily's name to Monastery of St. Clare, 150 White Pine Road, Chesterfield, NJ 08515-1732.
