Obituary of Deacon Joseph DePaolis

LEO THE GREAT ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH. THERE WILL NOT BE ANY VISITATION AT THE FUNERAL HOME. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Deacon Joseph DePaolis, 80, of Lincroft, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family. He lived in Monmouth County most of his adult life, with his childhood being spent in Brooklyn, N.Y. He spent many years on Wall Street working his way up from runner to full partner. He also owned a florist and a delicatessen with his wife. He was a member of the St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church where he served as Deacon for 13 years. During his tenure at St. Leo's he baptized hundreds of babies, married numerous couples and assisted at the funeral mass of many parishioners. He so enjoyed being the Lord's servant and ministering to His people. He had a true gift for giving and was a staunch supporter of the Lunch Break in Red Bank. Deacon Joe will be greatly missed by the St. Leo's community. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joan DePaolis also of Lincroft, and their three children, a daughter Doretta Healy and fiancée Thomas Moore, Lincroft, a son and daughter-in-law Edward and Margaret DePaolis, Jackson, and a daughter Rosemarie DePaolis, Howell. He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Edward and Elizabeth Healy of Lincroft, and Katie and Joseph DePaolis of Jackson, as well as several nieces and nephews. Joe was loving and selfless, a wonderful father and grandfather. He will be missed by his family and friends. PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY FLOWERS. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation from 2-4pm and 7-9 PM, Monday August 27, 2012 at St. Leo the Great Church, 550 – Newman Springs Road, Lincroft. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00AM Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at St. Leo the Great as well. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum.
