Obituary of George Edward Ball
George Edward Ball, 77, of Fairmont, West Virginia, formerly of New Jersey, passed away on Thursday morning Sept. 18th at home after along illness. He was born November 24, 1930 in Clarksburg, WV. The son of the late Aldofus Clark and Delilah Gladys Bell. George was a 1949 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School, a graduate of Fairmont State College, and then received a masters Degree from West Virginia University. Throughout the course of his life he was an elementary principal, secondary principal, assistant superintendent for business / board secretary, and chief school administrator / superintendent of schools. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was a Korean War Veteran. He was an active member and president of the Fairmont WV. Kiwanis Club, a member of the V.F.W.Post 629, and a member of the Fairmont Elks. In New Jersey, he ran for the New Jersey State Senate, Monmouth County District #12 in 1994 and again in 1997. He was a member of the New Jersey Association of School Administrators, New Jersey Principals Association, National Education Association, past President and Vice President of the Toms River N.J. Kiwanis Club, past Board of Directors member Boy Scouts of America, past President and Vice president of East Dover, N.J. Little League. George was predeceased by his parents, and by a son Mark Ball. He is survived by his wife Ellen Jane Sesterak Ball, daughters Victoria, Alexandra, and Georgette Ball, all of Fairmont. He is survived by his first wife Bonnie Ball, two daughters and sons in law Pamela and Frank Biele of Forked River N.J., Deanna and Anthony 'TJ' Buccella of Toms River, N.J., and by four grandchildren Drema Carpenter, Frank Mark Biele, and Matthew and Camille Buccella, and two brothers Robert Ball and Bill Ball. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel, N.J. A Funeral Service will be offered at the Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday. Entombment will follow at the Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum.
