Obituary of Joseph Giamanco

Joe Giamanco entered into eternal peace surrounded by his loving family on Thursday July 10, 2014 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, NJ. Joe was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 12, 1941. He is predeceased by his mother, Rose and his father, Victor Giamanco and stepfather, Frank Lopez. He is survived by his wife, Mollie of 46 years, his children, Victor, his wife Carey and their children, Jack, Mia and Julia of Holmdel, NJ. Christian, his wife Pamela and their children Ava, Sofia and Maximillian of Shrewsbury, NJ. Joseph, his wife Gabriella and their children Joey, Anthony and Nicholas of Middletown, NJ. Joe is also survived by his sister, Camille, her husband John Trotta, sister in law, Marie Nappo and Tom Kolidakis along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. At the age of 18 Joe was employed by the American Stock Exchange and was later hired by the specialist firm Herman & Company. In 1970 Joe became a member of the American Stock Exchange and later became the founding and senior partner of GHM, Inc. (Giamanco, Herman and Menello). Joe was a key component to leading the American Stock Exchange as being recognized as one of the most prestigious exchanges in the world. Joe along with other members were instrumental in introducing the options market. Joe Giamanco retired in April 2001 selling his business to Bear Sterns. Long after retirement he continued his passion for trading the market. In 1966 Joe entered The Naval Air reserve, graduating first in his class. Joe was known for his repertoire of jokes and his keen sense of humor. He also had a passion for cooking, carpentry, music and enjoyed playing his guitar. His deepest passion was the love for his family. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday 10:00AM at St. Benedict R.C. Church 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel. Entombment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
