Obituary of Susan Schatzle
Susan Duffy Schatzle, of Colts Neck, passed away on Sunday, July 19th, 2015. She was born on September 28th, 1968, and was a lifetime resident of Colts Neck. She attended Colts Neck grammar schools, Red Bank Catholic High School and she graduated 'Summa Cum Laude' with a degree in Pharmacy from Long Island University Medical School. She was a pharmacist at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Centra State and Riverview Hospitals. Susan had a lifelong love of horses. When she was younger she won awards in jumping competitions. She was a drummer in the Colts Neck Joshua Huddy Fife and Drum Corps, with whom she traveled to Paris to play at the 100th anniversary of the 'Treaty Of Versailles'. In 1985, she earned the US Congressional Award, both silver medal and certificate, given to high school students for initiative, achievements and services to community. She was a life member of the Colts Neck First Aid Squad and an EMT, where she met her future husband, James Schatzle. For many years she assisted him as a trainer for his company, TEAM LIFE, INC. Susan had the voice of an angel. For most of her life she was a member of 'Our Lady Of Fatima First Saturday Family', a volunteer group that takes handicapped pilgrims to Canadian shrines. Her beautiful voice soared in the magnificent basilicas of Ste. Anne de Beaupre in Quebec and Our Lady of the Cap in Three Rivers, Canada. Susan was a member of Actors Equity. In 1996-1997 she was contracted by Tokyo Disney, Japan. She starred in numerous local shows and cabarets and sang at many weddings and funerals. Her rendition of 'Ave Maria' is unforgettable. Susan was a breast cancer survivor. Susan is pre-deceased by her father, John Duffy and her brother, Michael Duffy. She is survived by her husband, James Schatzle and her adored sons Jimmy and Jack; her mother, Agnes Cassidy Duffy; her brother Larry Duffy, his wife Karen and their son Christopher her sister-in-law Mary Ann Duffy and her son, Patrick; and , literally, hundreds of uncles, aunts and cousins. A mass will be offered in celebration of Susan's life on Saturday, August 15th at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church on the corner of Phalanx Road and Route 34 in Colts Neck.
