Obituary of Elizabeth I. Smith
Elizabeth I. Smith 'Bette' died Friday (8/28) at Home. She was 88. Born in Newark, she lived in Montclair and Stillwater prior to moving to Hazlet 51 years ago. Mrs. Smith graduated from Nursing School at Orange Memorial Hospital, Orange in 1942. She worked as a nurse for the Visiting Nurses in Newark, and Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank prior to working for 12 years as an Assistant Nurse for Scarpellino Medical Associates, Red bank retiring in 1981 She was a parishioner of St. Benedict's R.C. Church in Holmdel, and she was a former Girl Scout Troop Leader in Hazlet, and she was also a member of the Red Hat Ladies She was predeceased by her husband Bernard A. Smith in 2000, a sister Rosemarie Mahaffey, and brothers Stephen, Joseph, and John 'Jack' Kenny Surviving are 3 sons, Bernard Smith, Jr., of Hacketstown, Timothy Smith, of Hazlet, and Christopher Smith, of Union City, TN, 3 daughters, Regina Lindon, of Brick, Beth Fitzpatrick, of Morganville, and Nancy Bell, of Rio Rancho, NM, brother and Vincent Kenny, of Georgia, 9 grandchildren, Kelly, Ben, Erin, Carolina, Lindsey, Trevor, Troy, Adam, and Shane, and 2 great grandchildren, Patrick, and Meghan In lieu of flowers please make donations in Mrs. Smith's name to the St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o St. Benedict's Church 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel, NJ 07733
