Mary V. LaRussa, 88, passed away in her home in Holmdel, NJ on April 24, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Mary lived most of her life in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn until she moved to Holmdel where she lived with her son and his family. Mary was a graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, and worked for The Hanover Bank until she married her husband Phil and raised her four children. After raising her children she worked for Brighton Brokerage as a bookkeeper until she retired at the age of 84. Throughout her life, Mary was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, sister, sister-in-law, and friend. She loved having family and friends over to her home for fun and food. She loved shopping, especially her frequent trips to Costco. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Michelangelo and Valentina Romano, her husband, Philip LaRussa, and her son, Michael LaRussa. She is survived by her son Philip and his wife Laurie of Holmdel, NJ, her daughter Maria Palamara and her husband Paul of Denville, NJ, and her daughter Jo-Ann Crifasi and her husband John of Staten Island, NY, and eight grandchildren including Laura Palamara, Gina Semerad and her husband Bob, Michael LaRussa, Juliana Crifasi, Joey Palamara, Lisa Palamara, Philly LaRussa, and Johnny Crifasi, and many friends and relatives who loved her dearly. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 6 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ, Holmdel, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday at 9:15 AM at the Church of St. Catharine, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel, NJ.
