Jay J. Abbes, 68, of Clermont, FL, passed away on August 7, 2012. Born on September 22, 1943 in the Bronx, NY, the family moved to Middletown, NJ and later on Jay raised his children in Holmdel, NJ. Jay was a stand-out athlete at Red Bank Catholic and later he played football and baseball at Wagner College, and breaking Wagner's all-time record in Football for punting. Jay was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity. Jay's career was in business administration and financial advising and began in 1966 with Chase Manhattan Bank where he was later promoted to second vice president, EF Hutton Trust Co. where he was the Vice Chairman and CEO, founder of his own financial consulting firms, Advisor Marketing and The Abbes-Strohoefer Group, and co-owner of LeVintage Wine and Cheese Shop in Red Bank, NJ. Jay enjoyed playing golf while a member at Beacon Hill Country Club. He also was a little league coach for HYAA. But his greatest love was being with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Jay is survived by his son Jay, his daughter Kimberly both of Clermont, FL and his son Keith, daughter-in-law Tracie and three grandchildren, Haley, Laney and Luke of Holmdel, NJ. Also his brother and sister-in-law Ronald and Sandra Abbes of Lincroft, NJ, sister and brother-in-law Roberta and Paul Maresca of Middletown, NJ, sister Terry Butler of Hamilton, NJ, his former wife Gail Mangan of Middletown, NJ and long-time companion Charlene McGee of Spring Lake, NJ, as well as nieces and nephews all over the country. Jay was pre-deceased by his father Christian N. Abbes, his mother Gertrude Abbes, his brother Christian R. Abbes and his nephew Craig Abbes. Visitation will be held Friday, August 17th from 7:00 to 9:00PM and Saturday, August 18th from 10:00 to 1:00PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel .
