ROSE STIGLIANO CRANEY, JUNE 28 1927- APRIL 24, 2013, WAS BORN IN BROOKLYN, N.Y. TO NATIVE ITALIAN PARENTS, ANGELINA RAPANARO AND GUISSEPE STIGLIANO. SHE IS PREDECEASED BY HER BROTHER, FRANK PAUL, AND HER BELOVED HUSBAND, THOMAS JAMES CRANEY, WITH WHOM SHE HAD 5 CHILDREN: ANGELIQUE, GERTRUDE ELLEN, THOMAS FRANCIS, PAUL AND CHRISTINE CRANEY LEVY, SEVEN GRANDCHILDREN AND THREE GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. ROSE GRADUATED FROM KEAN COLLEGE WITH A DUAL DEGREE IN EDUCATION AND ART. SHE SERVED AS PRESIDENT OF THE NJ SCULPTURE ASSOCIATION AND HAS EXHIBITED HER WORK IN SUCH DISTINGUISHED VENUES AS THE LEVER HOUSE IN NYC. ROSE FIRST DEVELOPED A STYLE OF PAINTING AND MONOPRINTING WHICH MADE HER WORK EASILY IDENTIFIABLE FOR ITS STYLIZED BUT SUBTLE FEMALE IMAGERY, BEFORE LAUNCHING INTO SCULPTURE FULL TIME, MASTERING SUCH AVANTE GARDE MEDIUMS AS METAL AND NEON, WHICH BECAME HER FORTE. SHE WAS ACTIVE IN HER COMMUNITY, RUNNING FOR SCHOOL BOARD. HER COURAGE, EYE FOR ALL THINGS BEAUTIFUL, ARTISTIC SENSIBILITY, AND CULINARY MASTERY WILL BE TREASURED BY THOSE WHO LOVED HER, AS WE CONTINUE THOSE TRADITIONS SHE CULTIVATED. A MEMORIAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST MARY'S CHAPEL 26 LEONARDVILLE ROAD, NEW MONMOUTH ON SATURDAY, MAY 11TH AT 9:15 AM.
