Doris Schumacher, born July 29, 1919 in East Rutherford, NJ died Wednesday at home surrounded by loved ones. Predeceased by her parents, Minna and Fred Gittelbaur, she is survived by Edward her husband of 65 years. Doris attended secretarial school, where upon graduation she worked at Chase bank on Wall Street for the V.P. of Advertising Doris loved gardening and charities that helped the Lord’s needy and all life of His creation. She was instrumental in putting aside 5 acres of their property adjacent to Holmdel Park for land conservation. She was a member of Holmdel Community Church, UCC for over 50 years serving on many committees, was a member of the ladies Aide and loved working on the baked goods table at the church bazaar. Doris also volunteered at Bayshore Community Hospital making gifts and favors for the patients there. Everyone was family, her home was open to all. Many will miss Doris’ good works. It was her belief that such money would be more effective by church outreach to help those in need. May her wishes be respected. Amen.
