Obituary of Jack O'Hanlon

Jack O'Hanlon passed away on Tuesday morning, May 13, 2014. He was 90. He was born and raised in South Orange, N.J. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, and was held as a P.O.W. in Germany. After the war, he returned to South Orange, where he married and raised three children. He was employed with the U.S.Postal Service in South Orange for 37 years. He retired as a supervisor in 1978. Upon his retirement, he settled in Lake Hopatcong, N.J. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and vacationing with friends in Florida each winter. He was also an avid Yankee fan. Jack was predeceased by his wife Valerie in 1999, and by his sister Rose O'Hanlon. He is survived by his sons Jack and his wife Carol, Kenneth and his wife Patricia, his daughter Ginny and her husband Jim Martikes, 3 grandchildren Alison and Kenneth O'Hanlon, and Lisa Martikes, a sister Helen Wider, and a brother J.Ross O'Hanlon. Visitation will be on Thursday May 15th from 3 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday May 16th at 9:15 A.M. at St. Catharines' R.C. Church, 108 – Middletown Road, Holmdel. Interment will then follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Tenafly, N.J. In lieu of flowers, donations made in his memory would be appreciated – The American Cancer Society, P.O.
