I am so sorry to hear about Russell's passing. I counted him as a dear friend, part of the fabric of tournament chess life in NJ. If he wasn't present at a major event, he was missed. And I will miss him. I don't remember which team he rooted for during the last Superbowl, but I hope his team won.

I would first like to offer my condolences to Mr. Mallalieu's family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with you daily. What saddens me the most is the fact that I can count the times I actually got to talk with Russ in person on one hand. However, what will always be remembered about Russ is our lengthy telephone conversations about baseball, my love for the Red Sox and his for the infamous Yankees; his encouraging words in times of need; and his kind heart. I am very proud to say Russ was a part of my family and will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you again for the great memories Russ!!! Love you always.

I would like to say that Russ was a great man the short times that I have a shared with him. I will always remember the long chess games we played together where he would always beat me, but he taught me a lot about the strategies he used

My thoughts and prayers are with Russ and his family today and always. Russ was a wonderful man, of which I felt not only honored to know, but honored to have him as part of my family as well. May he rest and peace, and give the loved ones who are left behind the strength each day to go on, and treasure the memories we have of him.

Russell will be missed, but missing him will be the truest tribute to his life. Missing his character, his smile, his good nature, his good faith and dedication to those whom mattered in his life. Now is the time to mirror his dedication towards others and dedicate ourselves to him -- by remember him each day, with respect and honor towards his gentle spirit that still resides among us. By knowing that our presents here matters, and that each simple moment we should feel blessed about our life, and our family and friends, he certainly did. So as we say goodbye, and share this sad day together, with him in mind we should know it is not about things said or not said, it is about being there and remembering, and reaching out to connect with others. Russ you WILL be missed. Many Blessings, Tracy
