Our family was deeply shocked and saddened to hear about Dr. Fenton’s passing. He was the most compassionate and professional veterinarian that we have ever come to know. He saw our passion for rescuing and caring for feral cats, and he matched it every step of the way by working with us, hand-in-hand, to find the best solutions for the benefit of each and every one of our furry children. He would always take the time to answer questions and address concerns, even going as far as to provide training on how to administer subcutaneous fluids. He would make house calls to give shots and conduct exams, and he would send heartfelt condolences when our babies died. Dr. Fenton was highly intelligent, empathetic and one of a kind. He was a dear friend and he is greatly missed. Our deepest condolences to his wife, his sons, and his family.

I am saddened to hear about the passing of Dr. Fenton. He was phenomenal and truly cared for his patients. He spent over an hour sitting on the floor of my living room the night my dog passed away, answering questions, reminiscing with me, and comforting me. The world suffered a great loss here. My condolences to his family.

My family and I are truly devastated by the passing of Dr Fenton. My in laws as well as my husband have brought their animals to Dr Fenton for atleast 15-20+ years. Their dog Jessy who was Dr Fenton’s patient her entire life until she lost a battle with an unknown disease as well as our cat Scarlet (18-19 years he lived) who Dr Fenton saved and bought me another four-five years with after he was diagnosed with a thyroid problem and when it came time to put him down after being defeated by a cancerous tumor he was there to console and go over and beyond for me with his run as well as paw prints. Our current pets Jackie Tanguay and Maple Walters we’re also patients it’s Dr Fenton. You will truly be missed Dr. Fenton you were a true angel to all of the lives you touched and truly cared about all of the animals you took care of. To say we loved you would be an understatement! So many times, while waiting at hockey practice, Joe would be in his car working on his patient charts. Please realize that Joe will be with you always. We send our love and hugs to guide you through this sad time. God bless you all.

Our hearts are broken. Dr. Fenton was Stelina’s Doctor Since 2010 when she was a puppy. He saved her life. He was always so gentle with our 6 lb. Chinese Crested little girl.
He called her a Drama Queen. He cared for her so much! I am sure that is the way he was with all his patients. On the last day that we saw him he said to us thank you for coming in today. We thought he had some back pain, but he always gave His All to help little Stelina feel better. We never realized that would be the last day that we would see him. I called the next day and I was told he was going to have a back operation and would be back in 6 weeks. I called in 6 weeks, and then throughout the year waiting for him to return. We Cared about Dr. Fenton so much and couldn’t imagine bringing Stelina to anyone else. He was the kindest, most caring, loving person...an angel. We are so sorry for your loss and your children’s loss. Blessings to you all. Love Ilsebet, Salvatore, and Stelina♥️

I was one of Joe’s aides and became his private duty aide over the last year of his life. Joe had a special place in my heart as I watched him struggle and fight valiantly against his ALS with grace and determination.
Joe always had a smile and very often joked with me and the other staff. He would get a gleam in his eye and his face would light up as we got it. He had a wonderful sense of humor. When I came to his room he would ask how I was. He was always thinking of others.
I came to care deeply for not only Joe, but also for his wife Roseanne who was there every day for hours and fought tirelessly for Joe while raising their sons at home. What a beautiful, devoted couple.
I miss him today for his bravery, his kindness, his compassion for others, his wit, and his friendship. I am honored to have know him.

I am so distraught to hear of Dr. Fenton's passing. I apologise for not offering my condolences sooner.
I first met Dr. Fenton at a very challenging point in my life. I had just dropped out of engineering school and, in a period I refer to as my "early 20s midlife crisis," was looking to find my passion. I have loved animals my entire life and I felt that veterinary medicine was a field where I could really make a difference in the lives of animals. I saw the ad that Ramtown Animal Hospital was hiring and I jumped on it. Debbie called me in for an interview and in the 2nd exam room was where I first met Dr. Fenton. He explained to me that the job was entry level, the pay was just about minimum wage, and the work was hard but, that him and Gina would teach me.
I held them accountable for that. I asked Dr. Fenton about EVERYTHING. I know he pretended to be annoyed with all my questions, but deep down I know he appreciated my curiosity and the fact that I cared about his patients as if they were my own. We grew close the afternoons I worked alone and he would call to ask if there were any messages from clients. That answer was always a "yes" because someone's dog had vomited or someone's cat seemed a little off. I learned from relaying advice to clients and learned to diffentiate what needed to come in sooner rather than later. I learned the right questions to ask a client and I was happy to know that this made his job easier. I could tell that I was appreciated whenever he took the time to show me something like a hip dysplasia x-ray or listen to my opinion on how things could run smoother. Ramtown was like a family, a little dysfunctional at times, but we all worked hard together and really cared about one another.
As a clinician, Dr. Fenton was the best. His job was stressful being both the owner of the practice and the veterinarian, but his clients would never see this. In the exam room he was focused and gave every pet and owner his full attention. He liked to be thorough with his exams and diagnostics even if that meant running a little late. He practiced medicine the way it is meant to be practiced which I cannot say the same about every veterinary practice. He loved his work and explained to me that, "In there, I am the superstar."
Dr. Fenton had a heart of gold and helped save many puppies that had been left for dead. One of those is my dog Siren. Siren was left at the back door of the practice near death. Dr. Fenton cared for her and many others like her out of his own pocket. He said that he had to at least give these puppies a shot at life. I adopted Siren from Ramtown Animal Hospital after I fell in love with her while working there. She is my best friend, snuggle buddy, and a reminder of all my good memories at Ramtown Animal Hospital.
Dr. Fenton will be missed by many clients and employees alike. I have carried his teachings with me working at veterinary emergency and specialty centers, as I complete my animal science degree from Rutgers, and as I eventually apply to veterinary schools. Dr. Fenton gave me a chance, gave me a solid veterinary foundation, and I hope to carry on his legacy with any work I do in the future.

Very nice guy. I was sad to hear of his passing.

know that there are people like myself who remember him
fondly.

Joe was a great man, father , and vet. We were one of his first clients at his practice . And remain until this day . He has always pointed us in the right direction as to caring for our animals . He had compassion for each and every creature that walked into his business . The day I met joe , I was young , I had a lizard that got sick . Joe spent the night with me trying to help this poor animal . That was the moment I realised that Joe would be the one to care for the many pets I had over the 20 plus years I’ve know him. I have so many great story’s about joe . Just can’t manage to get them all out right now .
We are truely sorry for your loss . A great man and a blessing to all those who met him . Rest In Peace Joe.

Joe you are my love and my life. You took a huge part of me with you when you left.
Remember the lyrics to this song that I always loved....this is for you Joe!
“My Love, My Life"
“Like an image passing by, my love, my life
In the mirror of your eyes, my love, my life
I can see it all so clearly
All I love so dearly
Images passing by
Like reflections of your mind, my love, my life
Are the words I try to find, my love, my life
But I know I don't possess you
With all my heart, God bless you
You are still my love and my life
I held you close to me, felt your heart beat and I thought: I am free
Oh yes, and as one are we in the now and beyond
Nothing and no one can break this bond.
Yes I know I don't possess you
With all my heart, God bless you
You are still my love and my life
You're my one and only”
The boys, Doug and Paul miss you so much and you will always be with them.
Words cannot express the pain of losing you, only that you are free and no longer in bondage to your disease. You are now in the arms of the One you served here on earth, our Savior Lord Jesus and I will see you again Joe, my love, my life!
