Obituary of John A. Benevento

John A. Benevento, 79 of Lincroft, died on Sunday April 19^th at Community Memorial Hospital, Toms River.

Mr. Benevento was born and raised in Brooklyn, where he founded and operated Millwork Specialties, a company that restored historical landmark windows and doors throughout the tri-state area. He enjoyed gardening in his backyard in Brooklyn and loved taking care of his Bonsai trees. He was an avid craftsman and fisherman. John was a parishioner of St. Gabriel’s RC Church, Marlboro.

He loved to cook and kept the Sunday tradition of the family coming together alive. John was most happy when he was cooking each of his grandchildren the favorite special dish. Holidays were his favorite, being together and enjoying his family, which was most important to him. One of his favorite foods was sardines.

John was an avid fan of the New York Mets. He enjoyed all things baseball. One of his favorites things was to watch his grandchildren  at their event, from baseball to soccer to all the dance recitals. He was there for everything from births to graduations. His grandchildren were his life.

He was pre-deceased by his parents Emily Faiello and Furi Benevento; two sisters, Grace Doria and Maria Maresca.

Surviving John is his wife, and childhood sweetheart, of 58 years, Lillian; three children, Emily and Robert Vitale, Lincroft, Furi John and Elisa Benevento and Joseph and Carrie Benevento, Lincroft; 9 grandchildren, Nicole, Kevin, Brandon, Emily,  Baelee, Brielle, Taylor, Carley and Blake. And Amanda aka “Ralph”.

John also had an extensive family, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories and was always in contact with, from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida and Colorado. He will be deeply missed by all.
