Obituary of MaryAnn DeSilva

MaryAnn DeSilva, 79 of Jackson passed away with her family by her side on December 31, 2019.

MaryAnn was born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn to Vita and Nicholas Alleva on August 27, 1940. In the late 1960’s she and her husband Joe moved their family to Eltingville, Staten Island before retiring to Jackson Township in 2009. Before retirement, she worked for many years as the office manager for Pioneer Transportation in Staten Island.

MaryAnn enjoyed cooking and hosting parties for her family and friends both at her home and in the Poconos. She loved music and dancing as well as trips to Atlantic City with friends and family.  Her husband, three children and six grandchildren were the light of her life.

MaryAnn leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Joseph DeSilva; their children Sofia Esposito and her husband John, Holmdel,  Nicholas DeSilva and his wife Joanne, Holmdel and Stephanie Cannizzaro and her husband Craig of Hazlet; her six adored grandsons, Julian, Matthew, Christian, Paul, Brian and James as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation, Saturday, January 4th, 2 to 7 pm and Sunday, January 5th, 2 to 6 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Monday, January 6th, 10:15 am, at the Church of St. Catharine, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel.  Entombment services will follow at Holmdel Mausoleum, corner of Holmdel and Roberts Road, Holmdel. Contributions in memory of Mrs. MaryAnn DeSilva may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org.
