Obituary of Emily Mei Tong

Emily Mei Tong, 53, of Freehold passed away Tuesday, October 1st surrounded by her loving family.

Emily was born in Taiwan and immigrated to the United States when she was 6 years old.  Her family settled in Queens, NY where she was raised.  Emily met the love of her life while attending the Bronx High School of Science.  She would go on to attend and graduate from Rutgers University with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and after college the two were married in 1991.  They would move to Pennsylvania for a few years but ultimately would settle in Freehold, NJ where they would raise their young family.

Emily was a dedicated mother of four who loved her children more than anything.  She had a passion for art, mostly drawing and making stain glass.  Another real love for Emily was travel. She and her husband were able to see a lot of the world, from many countries in Asia such as Taiwan, Japan and China to the tropical islands of Turks and Caicos.  She particularly loved seeing Europe as they traveled to France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands and plenty more.  Her most cherished trips were their family vacations to Emerald Isles, NC and Newfound Lake, NH.

Emily is survived by her beloved husband Kin-Wah Tong and her beloved children Corey, Kaylyn, Brandon, and Daniel.  She is also survived by her mother Tsuey Yin Yeh and siblings Shane and his wife Jean Yow Yeh, Jean and Paul Chu, and Jane and Jim Kent.
