Obituary of Detlev G. Haenschke
Detlev G. Haenschke, 84, of Colts Neck, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, suddenly, at home, with his beloved wife by his side. Detlev graduated from the Technische Hochschule (University), Vienna, Austria with a Dipl. Ing degree. He came to the U.S. in 1955 and worked at Bell Laboratories (NY, NY & Holmdel, NJ), retiring in 1989. He served as a volunteer fireman and on the First Aid Squad in Colts Neck, where he lived for 46 years. Born on Sept. 17, 1927 in Berlin, Germany, Detlev is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 53 years, Eve (nee Lewis); his daughter, Heidi and granddaughters, Clara, Virginia and Eva of Dublin, Ireland; his younger brother, Joachim of Oberhausen, Germany; and his adored parakeet, Mickey. He was predeceased by his older brother, Klaus. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8 at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Rd., Holmdel. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9 at Holmdel Community United Church of Christ, Newman Springs Rd., Holmdel.
