Obituary of Chung Soon Fwhang O'Dwyer
Chung Soon Fwhang O'Dwyer (b. 3/16/30; d. 11/28/10) was an accomplished painter, dancer, and art teacher. Born in Korea into a family of artists, she was a long-time resident of Colts Neck, NJ where she and the love of her life, John F. O'Dwyer, raised their six children: Patrick, Ellen, Mary, Tess, Margaret, and John. She was a member of the Salmagundi Club of New York, Knickerbocker Artists, Korean National Academy of Fine Art, and Morean Arts Center of St. Petersburg. She served as a judge for the Washington Square Art Show in Greenwich Village and exhibited widely at art galleries, corporate shows, and museums including the Newark Museum. She taught Oriental Brush Painting at her studio Xanadu, Collier High School, and Brookdale College. A devout Catholic, Chung Soon O'Dwyer dedicated her life to her family and works of charity. She is survived by her sister Duk Soon Fwhang; her six children; her ten grandchildren; and her great granddaughter.
