Andrew Lennert saw me through to Eagle Scout and for that I am supremely grateful. I, like a lot of teenagers, did not always see the significance of this achievement. He did and he took a personal interest in not only me, but all who were in his Troop. I have so many fond memories from his stories at the camp fires to his patient and steady approach as a leader of a large troop of boys. The experience stayed with me through life and now, with my son in Scouts, has inspired me to hope to give back to my community, in the way that Andrew Lennert did, as I enter training to be an Assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 709. Rest in peace Andrew Lennert, you have been a hero and an inspiration.
