Obituary of Joseph F. DiMare

Joseph Frank DiMare, 70, of Fort Lauderdale By The Sea, Florida, died peacefully at home with family by his side on Wednesday, June 12.

He was born February 25, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of late Lucy and Santo DiMare. He was a beloved son, caring brother, loyal friend, incredible father and adoring grandfather. He is survived by his former wife Linda DiMare, who he married on December 14, 1975. They moved to Holmdel, New Jersey where they raised their four children.  Joe was a successful entrepreneur who was passionate about basketball and music, especially the guitar.  He was most devoted to fatherhood, often coaching his children’s teams, instilling a strong work ethic and inspiring them to follow their heart. Joe lived a fulfilling life and treasured being Pop Pop to his beautiful grandchildren.  He is survived by his best friend, Bobby Napolitano, and his companion, Linda Mercandante.

He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. Joe will always be remembered as a strong, genuine person with a kind and generous heart.  He leaves us all a legacy of love. 

He is survived by his brother, Dominic DiMare, and sister and husband, Lucille and Scott Whitlock; his first son and wife, Joseph and Natasha DiMare, his second son and wife, Christian and Sarah DiMare, his daughter, Danielle DiMare, his third son and wife, Justin and Liliana DiMare; and his nine grandchildren, Luca, Leonardo, Mateo, Jackson, Liv, Paolo, Levi, Santiago and DiMare baby on the way.  

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Holmdel Funeral Home in Holmdel, New Jersey from 2 - 4pm and 6 - 9pm.  The burial will take place on Saturday, June 15 at 10:30am at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York.  In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Joe’s name to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, stjude.org.
