Obituary of Russell C. Prielipp
Russell C. Prielipp of Holmdel passed away at home on Saturday, May 11, 2019. He was born in Wausau, Wisconsin to Lillian and Otto Prielipp in 1937.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Bonnie Prielipp, his sister Marian Doddington and eight loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Donald Prielipp and Dorothy Bendrick.
After graduating from D.C. Everest High School, he earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at the University of Wisconsin. While working at Bell Labs, he received his master’s degree from NYU. We was a member of the technical staff of Bell Laboratories for 33 years. He became a telecom pioneer. After his retirement Russell really enjoyed getting together with his fellow retired engineering colleagues at their monthly luncheon.
Russell was a dedicated member of the Holmdel Half Century Club, Neighborhood Watch as Co-Captain for 20 years and an active member of CERT.
He loved boats, so he learned how to sail by taking Shrewsbury Power Squadron’s boating courses and made lasting friendships. In fact, the Shrewsbury Power Squadron recently presented Russell with his 50th membership plaque.
In his youth, Russell had fun playing his guitar in a polka band. It must have been his love of music that prompted him to see many NYC Broadway shows. He also loved radios which drove him to become a licensed Ham Radio Operator.
Russell truly enjoyed maintaining his yard and propagating different plants; giving many to his special friends as gifts.
He will be sorely missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
