Obituary of Eric C. Noel

Eric C Noel, 54, of Holmdel, passed away on Sunday, April 14 at Riverview Hospital in Red Bank, NJ.  Born in Montmelian, France, Eric came to the United States for university and eventually earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.  

He worked at AT&T for 28 years and enjoyed it tremendously - always enthusiastic to learn and develop new things.  He often called work fun and so interesting.  He was co-inventor of 25+ patents during his career.  He was also a mentor to PhD students at the State University of New York at Stony Brook where he was always kind, sensible and encouraging to his students.

The pride and joy in Eric’s life were his two children, Cedric and Christina.  They were nurtured by him from the beginning in every way.  Vacationing and spending time together with his wife, Serena and children were of prime importance to him.  

Eric loved the outdoors - hiking, cross country skiing, playing tennis, running, swimming, going to the beach.  You often would see him working in the yard just enjoying nature.  

Eric will always be remembered for his selflessness, generosity and sense of humor.  His most wonderful character was his desire to help people without expecting anything in return.

Eric was predeceased by his parents, Guy and Catherine.

He is survived by his loving wife, Serena, son, Cedric and daughter, Christina; his siblings Sophie Noel and Franck Noel.

Visitation will be at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel, Thursday, April 18th, 4 until 7 pm.  In lieu of customary remembrances, Eric’s family suggests contributions in his honor to the American Cancer Society.
