Gertrude Regina Paglia, 85, of Holmdel, passed away June 5, 2015. Born in Brooklyn, Regina lived in Deal prior to 1979 when she moved to Holmdel where she and her husband raised their 4 sons. Regina was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was pre-deceased by her husband George in 2007. Surviving are her sons, Michael (Karlyn) Paglia, Christopher (Karen) Paglia, Scott Paglia, and Gregory (Molly) Paglia and 9 grandchildren. Mrs. Paglia was a graduate of Rosemont College in Pennsylvania and earned a Master's Degree from New York University's School of Education. She served the New York City Board of Education as a teacher, District 27 Reading Coordinator, and Assistant Principal for more than thirty-five years. While on maternity leave she was elected to the Deal Board of Education serving until the relocation to Holmdel. She had also been an active parishioner and lector at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, member of the Holmdel Half-Century Club and Rosemont Alumni Association. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm Monday, June 8 at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am Tuesday, June 9 at St. Benedict R.C. Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Matawan. Donations in Regina's name may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Pantry at St. Benedict Catholic Church.
