Obituary of Salvatore J. Castro

Salvatore J. Castro, 90, of Tinton Falls, NJ  passed away at his home on Saturday, January 5^th, 2019 surrounded by his family.  Born in Riposto, Sicily, Sal came to the United States at the age of 5 years.  He lived in New York for years before moving to Tinton Falls in 1976.

He held a masters degree, and was an electrical engineer working for the U.S.Government, mostly at Fort Monmouth.  He was an avid gardener, loved the beach, and was very proud of his Sicilian heritage. 

He was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, and was  a beloved “Nonno” to his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Lucille, sons Christopher and his wife Meredith of Long Valley, Robert and his wife Megan of Bordentown, his daughter Elena Anastasia of Oakhurst, and his grandchildren Elisa, Michaela, Isabella, Owen, Olivia, and Connor.

Visitation will be on Tuesday January 8^th from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel.  A Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday January 9^th,  at10:00 AM at St. Marys’ R.C. Church, 1 – Phalanx Road, Colts Neck, NJ.
