Obituary of Mark G. Yates
Mark G. Yates, 66 of North Plainfield, died Saturday, Nov. 3rd at Overlook Hospital, Summit.
Mark was born in Norfolk, VA and was raised in Brick and Colts Neck. He settled in Hillsborough where he and his family lived until moving to North Plainfield 8 years ago.
He was a graduate of George Washington University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Political Science. He was later graduated from Seton Hall University Law School with his Juris Doctorate. Mark practiced General Law at the Law Offices of William Courtney, White House Station, NJ.
Mark was a member of the New Jersey Bar Association and an active member of Nar-Anon. Mark was an avid fan of the NY Giants, he enjoyed sailing, but mostly he enjoyed being with his family at their annual trip to Ocean City, a trip they have done together for 30 years.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart Susanne F. Yates; their children, Kimberly Yates Hess and her husband Jonathan of Catonsville, MD. and Eric C. Yates of Miami, FL; his brothers and sister, Jeffrey Yates, Anchorage, Alaska, Lisa Deckmejian, Colts Neck and David and Michelle Yates, Chapel Hill, NC; and his grandchildren, Andrew Warren Hess, Kinley Grace Hess and Ryan Mark Hess. Mark was the son-in-law of Toni Fortunato, Old Bridge. He was also survived by 9 nieces and nephews: Tyler Yates, John Cesar, Rochelle Yates and her husband John Jeffrey, Patrick and his wife Jane, Nick Deckmejian, Allison Yates and Emily Yates.
Visiting hours for Mark will be Wednesday, Nov. 7th, 3pm until the time of his funeral service at 6:30 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. In according to his wishes, he will be cremated privately on Thursday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mark’s memory to a charity of your choosing.
