Obituary of Mariana Pedro-Medlin

On Wednesday, October 24, 2018, Dr. Mariana “Mimi” Pedro-Medlin, loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 53. Mimi was born in Elizabeth, NJ and moved with her family to Sayreville, NJ. She received her doctorate in school psychology from Pace University in New York City, her masters degree from Villanova University and her bachelors degree from Seton Hall University. Mimi first worked as a staff psychologist at Monmouth Medical Center before transitioning to the field of public education where she worked as a school psychologist throughout Monmouth and Middlesex counties. Mimi had a passion for animals and tended to them on her family’s farm. She went back to school to earn a veterinary assistant certificate and was later employed by the Monmouth County S.P.C.A. at their Freehold Mall location. She was also an avid reader and a lifelong fan of the band, Queen. She was known for being eternally sweet and for her happy approach to life and those she befriended. Mimi was preceded in death by her father, John Pedro, and her mother Rose Marie Pedro. She is survived by her loving husband Jay and their lovely daughter Cristina as well as her supportive brother Anthony Pedro. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 28th at Holmdel Cemetery on Holmdel Road at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mimi’s memory to www.thesatoproject.org.
