Obituary of Mary Nocera
Mary Nocera, 87, of Marlboro, NJ, passed away Sunday surrounded by her family.
She was born in Sicily Italy and immigrated to Manhattan by way of Ellis Island with her family in 1948 at the age of 17. She was a devoted Christian who cherished her time with her family and was always there when anyone needed help.
She lived in New York City and settled in Brooklyn, NY when she married to the love of her life, Joseph. They had three daughters together and raised their children in Brooklyn. Mary had a love for family and always wanted everyone around. She loved cooking and baking for the family but when no one was around she passed the time reading. She also spent her time sewing with her church group for the finished products to be donated to charity.
She is predeceased by her mother and father Francesca and Vito D’Amico, her husband of 61 years Joseph Nocera, her brothers Tony, Vito, Salvatore and Joey D’Amico; her sister Rose D’Amico and her son-in-law Paul Censoplano. She is survived by her daughters Donna Censoplano, Frances Nocera, and Nancy Nocera; her granddaughter Teresa Censoplano; as well as her sisters Patricia Pullen and Frances D’Amico; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 13th 4-8 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, September 14th 10:00 am at St. Gabriel Historic Church, 549 County Road 520, Marlboro, NJ. Entombment to follow in St. Gabriel’s Mausoleum, Marlboro, NJ.
