Obituary of Mary Ann Walsh Thompson
Mary Ann Walsh Thompson, 93 of Holmdel, died Wednesday July 4th at Care One at Holmdel.
Mary Ann was born in Newark to Genevieve and Martin Rush. She was a 1947 graduate of Caldwell College for Women with a B.S. She served as the Executive Director for the New Jersey Association of Retarded Children (Morris Unit) and the New Jersey Multiple Sclerosis Association. She was an active volunteer with the N.J. Special Olympics. Later in her life, she worked as an assistant Acupuncturist. She enjoyed cooking, traveling with family and being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She has lived in Holmdel with her daughter and son-in-law for 22 years, prior to Holmdel she had lived in Toms River, where she had moved after living many years in Essex Fells.
Mary Ann was a parishioner of the Church of St. Catharine, Holmdel.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, John Thompson and her sister Genevieve Rush.
Surviving Mary Ann are her loving children, Suzanne and her husband Thomas Foran, Holmdel, Mary Ann and her husband, John Manrodt, Dallas, Texas, Denis Walsh and his wife Diane, Waldoboro, Maine and Carol Walsh, Bethlehem, PA.; her devoted grandchildren, Devin, Christian, Alexis, Willem, Baley, Tegan, Allyn, Keely, Bryan and Oliva and her two great grandchildren, Dmitri and Ronan.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 15th, 4 to 6 pm, at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Mass of Christian Burial, Monday, July 16, 9:15 am, the Church of St. Catharine, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel. Mary Ann will be interred with her late husband, John in Arlington National Cemetery.
