Obituary of Daniel J. Halleran
Daniel J. Halleran, 64, of Holmdel, passed away on Tuesday June 26th, 2018 at the University Hospital, in Newark, NJ. Born in Jersey City, he attended and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. He later lived in Old Bridge, and moved to Holmdel in 1994.
Daniel joined the Hoboken Police Department and served there for several years, before transferring to the Jersey City Police Department, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. He retired from the department on July 1, 2010.
He and his family are parishioners of St. Benedict R.C. Church community in Holmdel. Daniel loved fishing with his best friend Gary, out of the Highlands, and from Point Pleasant.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and Pop Pop. He loved special time being with his grandchildren, especially playing baseball with Owen, snuggling with Alaina, or taking them and his family to Wildwood Crest.
He was predeceased by his father Thomas Halleran, and by his sister in law Linda Halleran. He is survived by his wife Colleen, his daughter Danielle and her husband Paul Baker of Freehold Twp., his mother Marie Halleran of Brick, his brother Thomas Halleran and his wife Carole of Wayne, his twin brother Dennis Halleran of Howell, and by his grandchildren Owen and Alaina.
Visitation will be on Friday June 29th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 9:45 A.M. at St. Benedict R.C. Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel. Entombment will then follow at St. Gabriel Mausoleum.
