Michael Francis Barrett, 82, of Aberdeen, NJ passed away peacefully at Kindred Hospital, Rahway, NJ on Saturday March 31, 2018. Mr. Barrett graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Rutgers University and enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a licensed Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor. He served in both public and private sector capacities, including Deputy Commissioner with the New Jersey Department of Transportation, Director of Public Works and Engineering and County Engineer with Monmouth County. Mr. Barrett also worked for T&M Associates of Middletown and most recently, Greenman-Pederson Incorporated, Lebanon, NJ. Mr. Barrett was a devoted and beloved husband, father and grandfather, and was especially proud of his family including ten grandchildren. He was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling in his RV and vacationing with family on Long Beach Island. A parishioner of St. Benedicts Church in Holmdel, Mr. Barrett regularly volunteered at the food pantry. Mr. Barrett leaves behind his faithful, devoted wife of 61 years, Marilyn Barrett. His is survived by his daughter Mary Barkley, and her husband, Gregg Barkley and their children, Thomas, Kelly Toepher and her husband Rich Toepher, Sarah and John; daughter Christine Fallat and her husband, George Fallat and their children Meghan and Kerri; daughter Susan Barrett-Charles and her husband, Howard Charles and their children Sean, Marilyn, Caitlin and Patrick; and son Patrick Barrett. Visitation Thursday, April 5th 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, April 6th 10:00 am at St. Benedict Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel. Entombment to follow in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, Keyport.
