Obituary of John Patrick Walsh

John Patrick Walsh, Sr. died peacefully at Delray Beach Medical Center on February 6th, 2018 at 87 years of age. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 60 years- Frances (nee Deegan) Walsh, loving father of Pat Walsh-Anderson, Ann Walsh Baucus (Michael), Jim Walsh, Bobby Walsh , Jerry (Susan) Walsh and Danny Walsh. Adored grandfather of Jacklyn Faraci Smith, Jack Baucus, Jay Faraci, Libby Faraci, Mickey Baucus, Shannon Baucus, Sean Walsh, Brian Walsh, and Colleen Walsh. He will be dearly missed by his sister in law Mary Alyce French and Mort French Jr. He was the favorite Uncle to Mort, Charlie (Christy), Michael (Leslie) and Tiffany French, Helen and Jimmy Walsh and a Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Big Jack was born in Brooklyn, NY and went to St. Francis College where he is a member of their Hall of Fame. The Terriers were lead to Victory in the 1951 NCIT Basketball Tournament at Madison Square Garden under his leadership as Captain He was a Lt in the USMC and was Captain of their Basketball team in Quantico and San Diego. He was also a member of the FDNY, a math teacher and Girl's Basket Ball Coach at Thompson Jr High, and a football coach with Hazlet's Youth Athletic League, at least one of those players went to the NFL. He was loved and admired by everyone he met and was always the life of the party. His sense of humor shed an optimistic view and gave every situation a silver lining. If you spent 5 minutes with him he was your friend for life. Jack is a long standing Elk as was his son John. Jack was predeceased by his son John Patrick Walsh Jr, his son in law Duff Anderson, brother George Walsh and beloved mother Nora (nee Griffin) Walsh. There will be a Welcome party in Heaven thrown by his dog Killer and many of his other favorite friends like Donald, Jim, Vinny, Gayle, Ruth and Austin among many others. Admittance to that event will be determined by St. Peter at the Pearly Gate.. Visitation Friday February 16th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Rd. Funeral mass Saturday February 17th at 10:00 AM at St Benedict's Church, 165 Bethany Rd, Holmdel. Internment service at Holmdel Cemetery will follow after the mass.
