Obituary of Francis X. Urbanski MD
Francis X. Urbanski, MD passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday 10th February, 2018.
He was born and raised in Perth Amboy, NJ. where he was in the marching and jazz band, a boy scout and photographer for the high school news paper. He was a graduate of Dickinson College, class of 1958, and member of the Alpha Chi Rho fraternity. He received a medical degree from George Washington University Medical School, in Washington DC. He completed his residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. He was a Lt. Cmd. in the Public Health Service, stationed in Staten Island, NY. Later in his career he also received a masters degree in nutrition from N.Y. Medical College. He was a physician who specialized in Internal and Bariatric medicine and had a family practice for over 40 years. He believed that a doctor’s true calling is to know and understand his patients and his patients loved him for it.
Dr. Urbanski, spent his childhood summers at his family farm in Holmdel NJ. He moved with young family to Holmdel full time in 1971. An early advocate of organic farming, he founded Red Hill Nursery on his property which grows specimen trees for parks, campuses and gardens.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Anastasia Urbanski, his son Matthew Louis Urbanski, and wife his Erin J Cowhey, Adrienne Elizabeth Urbanski, Elizabeth Ann Urbanski and her husband Graham L Giller and his six surviving grandchildren Xavier Maxwell Markowitz, Gemma Elizabeth Giller, Augustus Matthew Giller, Frederick Leo Giller, Benjamin Lincoln Urbanski, and Anastasia Jensen Urbanski . He is predeceased by his parents Matthew F Urbanski M.D., Mae Bond Urbanski and his grandchild Adrian Theodore Urbanski.
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, February 13th at 9:15 A.M. St. Catharine R.C. Church, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel, NJ. Interment will then follow at the Holmdel Cemetery.
