Obituary of Alfred G. Porto
Army Veteran of the Vietnam War Alfred G. Porto, 66 of Holmdel NJ, passed away at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, NJ on Sunday evening, June 28th, 2015. Mr. Porto was born in Staten Island, NY and moved to Holmdel, NJ 30 years ago. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he received a Bronze star for his heroic service. Upon his discharge from the Army, he was employed by the Hazlet Post Office for many years. As an active member in the community, Mr. Porto spent many years coaching recreational and travel sports. In his later years he often mentored other disabled Veterans. His love of his family, especially his children and grandchildren, was evident in daily activities. He was often found poolside at the grill preparing a delicious meal full of love for his family as cooking was a passion of his. He is survived by his Wife Donna of 37 years, his children Joseph and wife Brenda, Michael, Anthony, April and husband Richard, Marissa and his grand children, AnnaMarie, Joseph, Nikko, and Isabella. He leaves behind his parents, Anna and George, his brothers George and Robert, and sister Ann Marie. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 pm at Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday at 10 AM at St. Benedicts Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel, N.J. Interment will then follow at the Brigadier General William C.
