Obituary of Newton Barrett Hausmann

Newton Barrett Hausmann, 89, of Colts Neck passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 16, 2015. Born in Orange, NJ he grew up in Irvington, and lived in Livingston, N.J. and Smithtown, N.Y. prior to moving to Colts Neck in 1969. Newton was a Navy Veteran of World War II, where he attained the rank of Ensign, and served on the USS Madison as a Supply Officer. He worked as Head Controller for New York Telephone in New York, NY. Mr. Hausmann was the past Commander of the American Legion Post 16 in Irvington, NJ from 1989 to 1993, the past President of the Monterey Beach Club, and a member of the United States Power Squadron. One thing he loved was watching his kids and grandkids play sports. Mr. Hausmann was predeceased by his wife Gladys A. Hausmann and his brother C. Stewart Hausmann. Surviving are his children Newton Hausmann, Jr. and his wife Ruth, Cathy Cardamone, and Caryn Kaub and her husband Jim, 5 grandchildren Bud, Bill, Kelly, Caitlin, and Kelsey, and 4 great grandchildren Madison, Brianna, Tyler, and Jeffrey. Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 to 7:00PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Funeral Service will be offered in the funeral home on Monday at 6:30PM. The funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home on Tuesday at 12:00PM for the interment at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mr. Hausmann's name to the Colts Neck First Aid, P.O. Box 21, Colts Neck, NJ 07722.
