Obituary of Barbara Alice Haher
Mrs. Barbara Alice Haher, 81, of Middletown, NJ died in Red Bank, NJ on Wednesday July 8th from complications of a recent stroke. She was born in Jersey City, NJ, the daughter of Alice and Frank Hayes. She was married for 62 loving years to John G. Haher. The Haher's were residents of Great Kills, Staten Island NY in their early years together and then Oak Hill, Middletown, NJ where they raised three children and subsequently retired. She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Lila, Betsy and brothers Al, Doug, Raymond and her son Douglas. Surviving are her husband John Haher, daughter Elaine Haher, daughter Lila DeJulio, granddaughter Carissa DeJulio, of Middletown NJ. Also surviving her brother Frank Hayes, sisters in law Lucille Hayes, Katherine Hayes of North Carolina, sister in law Joyce Hayes of Arizona and brother in-law Judge Raymond Hare, and sister in-law Grace Haher both of Florida. Barbara had many friends and interests. She was an avid golfer and a member of Bamm Hollow Country Club, won many awards for garden club flower arranging, was the jib trimmer on the family owned racing sailboat and loved Ship Ahoy Beach Club. She loved to travel, socialize and be active in her church fellowship. Her main occupation was wife and mother but she worked on Wall Street in her earlier years, then Insurance in NYC and then as a salesperson at Flora, Red Bank NJ. She attended Fordham University and graduated from Brookdale CC with an Associates Degree in Library Science. Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 to 8:00PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A funeral service will be offered Tuesday 11:00AM at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd 112 Middletown Road, Holmdel. Interment will be in Fair View Cemetery in Middletown with a celebration of her life to follow at Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Barbara Haher's memory to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shephard, Holmdel, NJ.
