Obituary of Patricia Eugenia Polgar
Patricia E. Polgar ('Pat'), a long time resident of Colts Neck, died peacefully at her home on November 8. Pat was born in Newark where she attended Weequahic High School and received her college degree at Upsala College, East Orange. She was a teacher at Immaculate Conception School, Somerville, NJ. After her marriage to Robert Polgar in 1988, the couple moved to Colts Neck where Pat became a very active member of the community. She was a founding member of the Farmland Preservation Committee and remained active with this group. She enjoyed playing golf, was an enthusiastic supporter of Colts Neck Polo, painted in various media and was an avid Washington Redskins fan. Preparing food dishes of her Greek heritage was a special joy. Animals were a particular love of Pat and she adored her two cats, Sirena and Athena. She was also a long time member of American Mensa and loved the challenge of solving the daily and Sunday N.Y times crossword puzzles. After marriage, Pat joined her husband at Environmental Chemical Associates, Marlboro, NJ, as bookkeeper and accountant, and subsequently was founder and president of ECA Chemical, Inc., Matawan, NJ. Pat is survived by her husband, Robert; Nicholas Gevas, her brother and his wife, Ephie Gevas of Granger, Indiana; her niece, Stacy Gominiak (Matt Gominiak) of Madison, NJ; nieces Andrea Wilkinson (Carter Wilkinson), of Vienna, VA and Maria Hagen (Christian Hagen) of Chicago, IL; stepchildren Richard Polgar, of East Brunswick, NJ, Marcia Polgar Zalewski (John J. Zalewski) of Somerville, NJ and Christine Polgar, of Clinton, NJ; sister-in-law Vera Roughton (Bill Roughton) of Sacramento, CA; and step grandchildren, Kristina and John Robert Zalewski. Pat was pre-deceased by her parents James Gevas and Anastasia Baron Gevas, Newark. Memorial services will be held at Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ on Monday November 12th between the hours of 7:00 to 9:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Monmouth County SPCA, 260 Wall Street, P.O. Box 93 Eatontown, NJ 07724 in the memory of Patricia.
